Career Poll

I’m finding more and more that people change careers multiple times throughout their lives, whereas the previous generation tended to stay put. I’m curious to get a sampling from my readers. How many careers (not jobs) have you had so far?

And tell us in the comments what they are so we can see the progression (or digression) — whatever the case may be.

  1. Jenn, am I the first to vote??! I consider myself to have had 3 “careers”, the one I went to school for and did for 2 years, the one I did after the school career didn’t pan out and a brief stint doing something totally different before heading back to the safe and lucrative confines of career #2. Hope this helps!!!

  4. I have done the same career my whole life, have hated it and have always wanted to do something else, but for some reason I live by the values my parents did, when they drilled into my head, go for safety and pension………

  6. I had several jobs before age 20 – newspaper stringer, grocery store clerk, Taco Bell cashier, Good Humor truck driver, airport security guard – but since settling in to my office career shortly before my 21st birthday, I’ve stayed on the same path. I worked for the same woman for 28 years at three different companies, the last of which I’ve now been with for 23 years. I’m now the Director of Contracts for an environmental consulting firm.
